Specs:
Bike Make/Model
1978 Goldwing GL1000
Make/Model and Details of Sidecar Tub – Fibreglass, Aluminum (aluminium) Wrapped, Steel Sheet Wrapped etc
It currently has a rigid Spirit of America Eagle.
Sidecar Tub Design – Tandem/Single
Single
Sidecar Frame Type and Measurements – (Square/Round Tubing, Aluminium/Steel)
Great site thank you. I am researching and wanting to turn my Goldwing into a leaner.
Has anyone here used an early Goldwing that can share information and pictures of the subframe design? Tory
Front/Rear Mount Measurements
Is there a preferred height difference between front and rear mounts that is found to work best?
I read here some as little as 1″ some closer to 4″
Wheel Lead
Also wondering about the lead distance of sidecar wheel to bike rear wheel. Should that be less with a leaner compared to rigid?
Rear Mount Ground Clearance Measurement
Unsure at this stage of the build
Front Mount Ground Clearance Measurement

Motorcycle Sub-chassis Details (Square/Round Steel Tubing, Aluminum etc) and Attachment to Motorcycle (High Tensile steel, lock nuts etc)
I am trying engineer the subframe in my head before designing and think the best route will be to have a header made moving exhaust all to left side giving more room for lean.

Modifications/Adjustments During the Build
I attached a few photos. One as I brought the bike home.
It had been in storage for several years and I will be going through it.

Other pics are after all the vetter was stripped off, and one in it’s current state of disassembly.

Thanks again for the great site. Tory
